Principle and Working:
The diffraction phenomenon of light can be observed when a laser beam passes through a slit or grating. The resulting diffraction pattern can be seen on a translucent screen.In the present setup, various optical elements including a single slit, double slit, multiple slit, single tapered slit, fine grating, holes, circular opaque spot, gray filter, mesh, and coarse grating are used for diffraction experiments with a He-Ne laser.
- All individually slides are protected by two glass plates in frame.
- He-Ne laser with built-in power supply.
- Saddle can hold rod from 8 to 15mm
- Heavy, rigid and stable optical bench.
- Height and level adjustment screws
- To demonstrate that light spreads when it passes through a narrow aperture.
- To observe the diffraction patterns by holes, single slit and double slit, mesh, grating, grid, opaque spots.
- To demonstrate Young’s fringes
- To demonstrate Fresnel’s diffraction
- To measure wavelength of light using a millimeter scale as a grating.
- To demonstrate fringes of equal inclination.
- Optical bench : Length – 1.5 mtr. with Scale, 4 point levelling. Material Aluminium or MS.
- Transversal slider : 25 – 0 – 25mm, LC 0.01mm.
- Screen : Acrylic(translucent) 300 x 300 x 3mm.
- Laser : He-Ne Laser (632mm), Power 2 mW, Beam spot 2.5mm, current 4mA ~ 6mA, Dimension 300 x 62 x 82mm.
- Diffraction slides : SL744
- Slit Frame Size : 50mm x 50mm, Width=0.06mm & Separation=0.20mm (Single, Double, Three, Four, Five, & Six) Single & Double slit Tapered.
- Coarse Grating : 4 & 8 lines/mm, line/space ratio 3:1 & 6:1.
- Diffraction grating : 80 lines / mm, 300 lines / mm.
- Circular apertures : 1.0, 0.60, 1.40, 0.30 mm nominal dia.
- Hologram : 50 x 50mm Transmission type.
