Principle and Working:
The capacitance of a parallel plate capacitor depends on the distance (d) between the plates, the area (A) of the plates, and the dielectric constant ε, of the nonconductive material between them. Thus, capacitance is given by:C = εr ε0 A/d
Where ε0 = 8.85 x 10-12 As/Vm (permittivity in free space)
In this setup, the parallel plates are charged using a 600 V DC power supply. The charge (Q) on the plates is measured by an electrometer amplifier as voltage. The distance between the plates is adjusted by placing spacers on the edges.
