Millikan Oil Drop Apparatus

Item Code : SK052/SK198

Principle and Working:

The Millikan Oil Drop Experiment is used to measure the elementary charge of an electron. This experiment provided crucial evidence for the quantization of electric charge. The experiment involves observing tiny oil droplets suspended in an electric field. By adjusting the field strength, the motion of the droplets can be controlled, allowing for precise measurement of their charge. This setup enables verification of the discrete nature of electric charge and helps determine the fundamental unit of charge. Additionally, the experiment allows for the observation of Brownian motion.
