Principle and Working:
The Helmholtz arrangement consists of a pair of identical coils placed symmetrically along a common axis. A uniform magnetic field is generated when the coils are separated by a distance equal to their radius and carry equal currents in the same direction.
In this setup, the spatial distribution of the magnetic field in a Helmholtz coil arrangement is studied. The superposition of individual fields from the coils is analyzed using a digital Gaussmeter with an axial probe. This experiment helps in understanding the uniformity and strength of the generated magnetic field.
