Principle and Working:
The Advanced Newton’s Rings setup is a versatile device used to determine the wavelength of light. It consists of a plano-convex lens placed on an optically flat glass plate, creating a thin air film of varying thickness between them.
Light from an extended monochromatic source is converted into a parallel beam using a convex lens with a short focal length. This beam falls on an optically flat glass plate inclined at a 45° angle to the vertical, where it is reflected onto the plano-convex lens. The wavelength of the monochromatic light source is determined by measuring the radii of the interference rings.
