FARADAY’S LAW & INDUCED E.M.F

Item Code : SED1003

Principle and Working:

An induced electromotive force (e.m.f) or induced current is generated in a conductor when it is exposed to a changing magnetic field. This phenomenon is described by Faraday’s Law, which relates the rate of change of magnetic flux to the induced voltage.
Lenz’s Law states that the induced current flows in a direction that opposes the change in magnetic flux, ensuring the conservation of energy.
In this setup, a permanent magnet falls through a coil at different velocities, causing a change in magnetic flux, which in turn generates an induced voltage impulse. This impulse is recorded using a voltage probe connected to a data logger and computer interface. The polarity of the induced voltage depends on the orientation of the falling magnet.
