RING LAUNCHER (ADVANCED)

Item Code : SL1049

Principle and Working:

The ring launcher demonstrates Lenz’s law and the effects of electromagnetically induced currents. An iron core is placed in a solenoid, with a ring positioned over the coil. When the launch button is pressed, the coil is energized, generating a strong magnetic induction along its axis. This induces an opposite current in the ring, causing repulsion and launching the aluminium ring into the air. No effect is observed with a slit aluminium or acrylic ring.
The transformer principle is demonstrated using a coil with a low-voltage lamp, which briefly lights up. Overheating is prevented by an automatic one-shot timing feature.
A secondary coil enables step-up and step-down transformer action, with primary and secondary voltages displayed. Insulation on all current-carrying components ensures safety and prevents accidental contact.

  • Launch height and field strength is adjustable of conducting loop.
  • Activation of the circuit by solenoid insertion and thus provides over-current protection.
  • Necessary instruction and precautions are displayed on the unit.
  • Separate LED indication for Power and Active status.
  • IR Remote for safe launching.
    • To demonstrate the Lenz’s law and effects of electromagnetically induced currents.
  • Setup : Mains 230 V AC operated, coil turn 768, Fuse rating 30A initial.
  • Rings : Aluminium (with slot & without slot), PVC, Dimension: OD 60mm, ID 52mm, coil with bulb holder.
  • Remote : IR sensor, range 5-8 feet.
  • Core : Dia. 30mm, length 305mm.
