DIA-, PARA-, AND FERROMAGNETISM SK048/SK100

Exp- To demonstrate dia-para-ferro magnetism in an inhomogeneous magnetic field.
This experiment demonstrates the magnetic behaviour of Bismuth, Nickel and Aluminium samples when suspended freely in an inhomogeneous magnetic field. These metals are attracted or repelled by magnetic field depending upon the magnetic property of the metal under investigation.
PHYSICS, Class XII, Part - 1, Chapter - 5, Magnetism & matter.

  • Reversible pole pieces for centric and homogenous magnetic field.
  • Coils are enamelled Cu wire wound round on high impact plastic moulded bobbins.
  • Multipurpose components.
  • Each coil is enclosed on the same housing.
  • Presence(or absence) of a significant magnetic moments for atoms will govern how they respond to magnetic fields.

Diamagnetism shown by Bi (Possess no magnetic moment)
Paramagnetism shown by Al (unpaired valence electrons)
Ferromagnetism shown by Ni (Significant attraction to other magnetic materials.)
